Her work blends meticulous historical research with compelling storytelling, earning accolades and enthusiastic reviews from literary critics and readers alike.
Before devoting herself to writing, NL Holmes led a remarkable and varied life that deeply informs her fiction. Born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas, she began her professional journey in the antiques business before spending two decades as a Carmelite nun. She later pursued academic scholarship, earning a doctorate in Classical and Near Eastern Archaeology from Bryn Mawr College, after which she excavated in Greece and Israel and created archaeological artwork for excavations in Lebanon. NL Holmes also taught ancient history and humanities at the university level for many years.
Her broad range of life experiences—from contemplative religious life to field archaeology and academia—enrich her novels with authenticity and depth. Today, Holmes divides her time between Tampa, Florida, and northern France, where she lives with her husband and their cats. In her spare time, she gardens, weaves, and plays the violin, continuing to draw inspiration from life both past and present.
