Patrick Boylan

Patrick Boylan is a skilled multi-instrumentalist with a passion for self-education. After eight years of traditional piano lessons left him uninspired, he began exploring music on his own—improvising around sheet music phrases and uncovering the foundations of musical theater.
Now able to sight-read nearly any musical theater composition, Patrick co-founded MuseFlow , an edtech startup dubbed “The Duolingo of Music Education.” MuseFlow teaches music through bite-sized sight-reading challenges, helping students build skills and unlock songs as they go—making learning more engaging and efficient than traditional methods.
The platform adapts to each user’s pace and level, generating custom sheet music that isolates and integrates new skills. Students progress by achieving 95% accuracy over four phrases, mastering concepts like rhythms or time signatures.
Patrick has appeared on podcasts like The Biggest Thing In The Universe , where he discusses edtech, self-teaching, and how MuseFlow helps learners enter a flow state to enjoy and excel at music.
